When Was the Last Time you Looked at Your Home Inspection Report?
Even if you have never yet been a homeowner, this is good information to tuck away for future reference. It could save you a lot of trouble down the road!
When people purchase a home, they typically hire a Home Inspector to do a Whole Home Inspection, because they want know about any code violations, safety issues or major expense that might not be obvious to the casual observer. They use that information to help them determine whether or not to proceed with the purchase. Sadly, that is usually the last time most people ever look at their inspection report.

If you are a homeowner, I would like to challenge you to dig that report out of the file cabinet periodically and look it over. It contains a lot of other valuable information about your home and provides you with a list of all the maintenance items you should be focusing your attention on as you occupy the home in the years you own it.
The typical inspector will take photos and point out every little issue that needs attention, or might need attention in the future. His notes can be your “best friend” when it comes to keeping your home well-maintained and in great condition.
Deferred maintenance (neglected or postponed maintenance) can create issues down the road that will be much more costly in time, energy, and money. If dealt with in a timely manner, many of these problems are simple and inexpensive.
Believe me when we tell you we have worked with our share of sellers who face issues that hugely impact their ability to move forward with their plans, because either they hadn’t thought about, or had neglected, simple maintenance items along the way.
